Accessibility

We try to make all of our services and activities as accessible as possible to all people.

Our car park behind the church has a dedicated parking space for those with access needs. There is step free access from the car park to the church entrance. You are also welcome to park outside the church on the road where there is a dropped curb to aid access. The entrance to the church building has a slight slope down from the road with a handrail for assistance and is step free. Once inside, the church building is step free and level throughout.

We have an accessible toilet available near the entrance doors. The main toilets have baby changing facilities and a supply of nappies.

The church has loose, comfortable chairs that can easily be moved to accommodate wheelchairs, buggies and frames, and do let our sides people/welcome team know if there is anything you need assistance with. Feel free to sit anywhere where you feel comfortable doing so.

During services there is an induction loop available to those who need it.

Words for songs and liturgy are projected up in a dyslexic friendly way at the front of the church. If you have difficulty reading these, please let us know and we’ll make copies available for you. Most weeks a written copy of the sermon can be made available to those experiencing difficulties hearing or listening to the spoken word.

We have a live transcription service available in English as well as many other languages. This is accessible using an internet connected smartphone. Speak to the tech team at the back of the church for details of how to use it or to borrow a tablet to use during the service.

A dedicated area with toys is available at the rear of the church to keep younger minds occupied. If you want to take your child out of the service, please go to the side chapel where there are toys along with a TV so you can follow the service from there.

If you find it too noisy, feel free to go and sit in the foyer or side chapel.

We have a selection of fidget toys if you need something to occupy your hands.

Decaffeinated drinks are available after the service alongside regular hot and cold drinks.

The bread served at Communion is normally gluten free. If we use wafers, these can be gluten free. We also can offer wafers that are egg and milk free. Please ask before the start of a service. If you don’t want alcoholic wine, again, please ask before the start of the service.

If you need any assistance, please speak with the welcomer or sides person on your way in who will be only too pleased to help you.

Our Barnabas Centre behind the church also has step free access from the car park along with an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities and is step free and level throughout. An induction loop is available upon request.

If you have any specific requirements or questions, please get in touch.
